Machel Montano – Soca Superstar

Machel Montano, Arguably the Caribbean’s popular soca artist was born on the 24th of November, 1974. At the age of nine, he rose to fame with the release of his famous song “Too Young To Soca”. He is renowned for his admirable stage presence and upbeat, peppy songs that compel to audience to groove along the music.

He is celebrated to be the first Trinidadian and the youngest musician to win several competitions including the Caribbean song festival (in 1987), and the Road March King Competition of Trinidad and Tobago in 1997, to cite a few.

His appearance on the popular television show, Star Search, familiarized his Soca music to the US national television providing him with a broader market in future aspects. From then on, he continued to release remarkable singles that made it to the highest charts including “Take Me Back,” “By All Means,” “Take Ah Borrow,” “Music Farm,” “Big Truck,” “Footsteps,” and “Toro Toro.”.

Inside The year 2007, in 2008 He was with the Bob Marley Prize Entertainer for his captivating performances. He also won the most Calypso/Soca entertainer 2007 in addition to many others to follow. On 2nd May, 2010 he made history as the only two-time recipient (2008) from the Bob Marley Prize for Entertainer from the Year at Martins International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) held in Queens, New York.

He was accompanied by Pitbull on his Mr. Worldwide Carnival tour. In the later years, he received 6 awards at the same event Most Outstanding Stage Personality, Best Male Calypso/Soca Entertainer, Best Caribbean Entertainer, Most Outstanding Show Band, Best Soca Band and The King of Soca Award.

In 2013, Machel struck gold with the monster hit “Happiest Man Alive.”
